Just bought a 70’s Lab Series L5 amp off Craigslist for cheap cheap cheap. I snagged an Lab Series L5 2×12 combo off Craigslist for next to nothing apparently their resale value is zilch. Brought it home last night and can’t wait to take it out on a gig. Nice snag! Boy does that look clean.

The MOD is loud, dynamic, and well defined. It has a defined warm crunch response to overdrive distortion. The stock CTS ceramic speakers on my LAB Series L5 were far from bad, but a little lacking in high end and with a little too much lower midrange for my taste. According to reviews and its frequency response chart, the MOD would theoretically cure these slight shortcomings. Indeed, it worked! This amplifier is now everything I’ve wanted. I also use a lot of complex rhythmic delay emulating early tape delays like the Meazzi , which tended to confuse things a bit with the old speakers.
But with the Jensens, every single sound I use is articulate and well-defined. This might not be the best choice for blues players, but these speakers work well for pretty much everything else, in my opinion. I have not tried and will not try mid-scooped metal sounds on them, but I’m pretty sure they’ll handle that too, as they seem to have a very controlled and tight low end.
I have used many Jensen products over the years and they have always been my first choice. The reason is simply – they are the best.

Email Sugaree Licks any additions or corrections to Versions. King and Ty Tabor like them, too! The clean tone is excellent. The built-in distortion is OK, but the amp sounds better with a good distortion pedal, or using a small, overdriven tube amp as an overdrive. The parametric mid on the second channel is very cool one of the better two knob parametric mid controls made , as is the built-in compressor.
The reverb is pretty good except at extreme settings. Email Sugaree Licks any additions or corrections to Features.

The reason modern solid-stade amplifiers suck is that serious musicians don’t want them, so they’re made as cheaply as possible. The LAB Series was the result. Loud and clean as a Twin Reverb, with great tone-shaping abilities.
It takes some knowledge to get the best out of the slightly complex equalizer and the built-in compressor, but the reward is great. The speakers are Ceramic CTS units. While not at all bad, I wanted something with more clarity, so I swapped them for a couple of 70W Jensen ceramics. This brought the best out of this underrated amp.

This also includes all reissue equivalents. This makes the tanks less receptive to any outside interference. The original Hammond Accutronics tanks from the s were also wired directly to their respective RCA jacks. In addition, very close attention has been paid to the spacing and size of the lamination of the Transducers resulting in a more vintage like tone. I have completed the replacement of the reverb tanks in my fender Twin Custom 15 and fender Super Reverb this date and both sound great with my Gibson SG Standard.
I purxhased this to repair my Fender Twin Custom 15 it now has the reverb that it once had and I am very satisfied.

Check the Stairville and Flyht Gorilla lines from Thomann. They give the sizes for each model. Good point. I also like to arrive early. I need the time to transition from roadie to musician. It’s always a little nervewracking to park, load-in, set up and test the rig — I’m always concerned One thing I used to do when I was gigging was to arrive early to the venue, before anyone else to allow time to sort out the peculiarities of the location and to get fully set up with plenty of time I have an ES from I really like.
The thin body is very comfortable to play, and the available tones are nice. And most likely stamped T-Tops as opposed to the earlier stickered T-Tops.
